Even though the psycho-social approach to empowering poor people with disabilities will be able to understand the psycho-social aspects of the people with disabilities who will be empowered. This study aims to analyze the role of the psycho-social approach in developing a model for empowering poor people with disabilities in East Java. The approach in this research is qualitative with the type of instrumental case study with the aim that the case under study will be a model for other cases. There were 8 interview participants who were involved in this study, consisting of 2 representatives from Bapemas East Java, 2 representatives from Bapemas Sidoarjo Regency and 4 representatives from the Joint Business Group (KUBE) whose members are persons with disabilities who are economically disadvantaged. Interview data were analyzed using thematic analysis so as to collect the role of psychology which became the basis for developing the empowerment model, namely social initiative (cognitive), synergy (affective) and sustainability (conative). This empowerment model was then developed by involving the role of a psycho-social approach to equip less well-off persons with disabilities to be more independent and have an economic impact on the surrounding community.
Muhammad Ghazali Bagus Ani Putra Copyright (c) 2024 Muhammad Ghazali Bagus Ani Putra https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://psikologia.umsida.ac.id/index.php/psikologia/article/view/1749 Wed, 25 Dec 2024 12:22:07 +0000 Why Risk Perception Matters: Exploring Internet Altruistic Behavior https://psikologia.umsida.ac.id/index.php/psikologia/article/view/1875
The times have changed the pattern of human behavior, including in the scope of the internet. Along with the development of digital technology, a new phenomenon has emerged that has attracted the attention of researchers, namely Internet Altruistic Behavior (IAB). Internet Altruistic Behavior (IAB) is a form of altruistic behavior that occurs online, where individuals provide assistance to others without expecting direct rewards. Unlimited internet access in digging up information causes risk perception to be very important. Risk perception is an individual's perspective in assessing and understanding the potential losses that may occur in a particular situation. It involves a subjective assessment of the level of that risk to them. Errors in risk perception can make individuals misjudge the level of safety that can affect their decision to participate in altruistic behavior. The research method used in this study is quantitative. The subjects in this study were individuals who actively use the internet with an age range of 17 years - 29 years with a total of 142 subjects. Data were collected using quota sampling technique. The results in this study indicate a significant negative relationship between risk perception and internet altruistic behavior. The results of hypothesis testing obtained a correlation coefficient of r = -0.542 with a significant p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These results indicate that the higher the risk perception, the lower the Internet altruistic behavior in individuals.

Highlights:

Negative Correlation – Higher risk perception is linked to lower Internet Altruistic Behavior (IAB), as individuals hesitate to help due to perceived risks.

Role of Risk Perception – Misjudging online risks can impact decisions, leading to reduced participation in altruistic acts.

Study Findings – Research on 142 internet users (ages 17-29) using quantitative methods confirms a significant negative relationship (r = -0.542, p = 0.000) between risk perception and IAB.

Keywords: Risk Perception, Altruistic Behavior, Internet
Nasywa Hafizah, Kartika Syahrina, Nurul Aiyuda, Khairani Zikrinawati Copyright (c) 2025 Nasywa Hafizah, Kartika Syahrina, Nurul Aiyuda, Khairani Zikrinawati https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://psikologia.umsida.ac.id/index.php/psikologia/article/view/1875 Sun, 12 Jan 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Parental Social Support and Moral Intelligence in Junior High Students https://psikologia.umsida.ac.id/index.php/psikologia/article/view/1902
The purpose of this study is to identify the correlation between parental social support and moral intelligence at SMP X in Sidoarjo. The variables in this study include social media dependency and academic achievement as independent variables (X) and learning motivation as the dependent variable (Y). The researcher employed a quantitative research design using multiple regression analysis, with a sample of 289 students selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. The research instruments included adapted scales using the Likert model for learning motivation, online game addiction, and emotion regulation. The learning motivation scale was adapted from the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability of 0.840. The social media dependency scale was adapted from the Internet Addiction Scale (IAS) with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability of 0.862, and the academic achievement scale was adapted from the Learning Achievement Scale (LAS) with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability of 0.882. The results of the data analysis using multiple linear regression showed that the variables of social media dependency and academic achievement simultaneously have a significant effect on learning motivation, contributing 30.2% to the variance. Partial analysis indicated that social media dependency has a significant impact on learning motivation with a β value of -0.466 (p < .001), contributing 24.7% to the variance, while academic achievement also has a significant impact on learning motivation with a β value of 0.154 (p < .001), contributing 5.4% to the variance, indicating that social media dependency has a larger effect on learning motivation.

Highlights:

Significant Influence – Social media dependency and academic achievement together influence learning motivation, explaining 30.2% of the variance.

Negative Impact of Social Media – Social media dependency negatively affects learning motivation (β = -0.466), contributing 24.7% to the variance, showing a stronger effect than academic achievement.

Positive Role of Academic Achievement – Academic achievement positively influences learning motivation (β = 0.154), contributing 5.4% to the variance, but its effect is smaller compared to social media dependency.

Keywords: Social Media Dependency, Academic Achievement, Learning Motivation
Vandy Akhmad Wicaksono, Eko Hardiansyah Copyright (c) 2025 Vandy Akhmad Wicaksono, Eko Hardiansyah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://psikologia.umsida.ac.id/index.php/psikologia/article/view/1908 Sat, 18 Jan 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Peer Conformity and Its Link to Bullying Among Upper Elementary Students https://psikologia.umsida.ac.id/index.php/psikologia/article/view/1906
Bullying refers to acts of violence perpetrated by individuals or groups that are seen as "stronger."
